Lolololololololol. These fuckers are incredible and I love that everyone gets to see what the old lefty hands already knew - the entirely of the electoral left is like 15 people with their hands in each others pockets desperately trying to be the biggest fish in a tiny pond.

This is so freaking Leninist, and to my mind, anti-socialist in every functional way. So many people will sacrifice any and every genuine accomplishment out of greed for clout and credit.

Tennant is so totally the guy who'd do it.
Actors can be nuts, man. A dude (André Tchaikowsky) left his skull to the Royal Shakespeare Company to play Yorick in future productions. No one felt comfortable doing it until David Tennant played Hamlet.

I cannot even begin to express my rage at this lie

reading this through me back into my pandemic EMT life, attempting to resuscitate a child experiencing a cardiac arrest secondary to COVID while a father says “we heard that the vaccine was riskier than COVID for kids” and a mother wails in agony
NEW: The F.D.A. announced in an internal memo that 10 children died "because of" the Covid shot. Other experts want to see proof.

“This is a profound revelation,” Dr. Prasad's memo said. “For the first time, the U.S. F.D.A. will acknowledge that Covid-19 vaccines have killed American children.”

This shit is why I'm getting less and less work on anime and having to scramble to ask around with YouTubers for help letting me do their CCs just to pay my damn rent. There's enough anime to caption out there that I should not be fucking struggling.
After publishing this article, I've heard from many that CR seems to be using AI to produce dub CCs. Now, thanks to a slip-up CR had with episode 6 dub of The Banished Court Magician, we can say that with 100% certainty: Crunchyroll is using the AI service Ollang.com for its dub closed captions!

I had one of those "we don't talk enough about this historical fact" moments recently. I was talking to a very STEM-y kid and they described wanting to master maths and sciences but scoffed at the arts. I had to explain that all the classical geniuses they idolize were skilled in multiple arts.

Hell with it, I'm just going to post the whole thing here via screencap and alt text. It's Kaleb Horton, man, his writing always deserves the second read, especially since it could have just easily been lost forever like so much else. Read it, share it.

Here's a note I sent to our members about what we did with their money, and why we expect the Onion to outgrow the Washington Post.

We keep doing weird, hard shit — taunting ICE, yelling at Congress for not taunting ICE, buying bad websites — when nobody else does.

Our members keep getting papers.

Hi everybody,

It's Black Friday, a big day for us at The Onion, since we rely almost entirely on your memberships.

Our goal for 2026? More print subscribers than the Washington Post.

This is, somehow, feasible.

So sign up! A year of print is $75 for the year today. Help us do a very funny thing.

(Y'all, this is not about "hard games are bad". It's about games which purport to offer the freedom to play as whatever you want, but in practice have extremely specific baked-in assumptions about the player character's mechanical capabilities and just refuse to tell you what those assumptions are.)

True freedom is the skill where not maxing it out at chargen will lock you out of the main quest twenty hours later and the skill that has exactly one (1) non-trivial check in the entire game both costing one point per rank.

No, I 100% agree that computer RPGs these days have too much handholding. I, too, yearn for the days of being able to spend hours crafting my perfect build from hundreds of available options, only to discover that it mathematically cannot survive the mandatory rat fight portion of the first dungeon.

the difference between "I can't afford it" vs "I just can't justify it" is something that people who have been broke understand far too well.

it does not matter today. there is no means testing. just ask. you deserve it.
now for your reminder:

if you are sitting around and thinking "I want something but, other people probably deserve it more," you deserve it.

two things can be true. you deserve it.

people are literally lined up right now to help you. all you need to do is post a link.

Major and typical subject of renaissance painting! Everyone just had to paint a Susannah eventually.
This is a late ancient (5-7th c.?) Greek account of the life of a rich woman who was raised Jewish, converted to Christianity when her parents died, lived for 20 years as a male monk named John, was discovered & made head of a woman's monastery, & was later martyred
well, what the heck. it's the tuesday before thanksgiving, and whoever is on here deserves a treat: the first new translation I've posted in a long while: the Life and Martyrdom of Susanna:
