Different rubber duckies, same writer. @lmbayley at the other place. For now, this account only follows writers, editors, and lit mags. I like my echo chambers cozy!

I recognize and respect all pronouns. Mine are she/her.
Woot! Look what just downloaded itself to my Kobo! Happy official release day, @lumchanmfa.bsky.social !

Cat pictures are a crucial part of any day spent even partly online!! I therefore fully support the inclusion of these very important things in your feeds. Please find attached a picture of my girl Daphne, in case it helps make your day better. xo

You don't need a coverstitch machine either, as long as you have a twin needle suitable for knits in your sewing machine. Here are pictures of the different stitches on the first shirt I made.

Mine's the Janome CoverPro 100CP. I bought it used from my mom for $500 CAD, because it was just sitting on her shelf and I was interested in making t-shirts and dresses.

Finally wrote my ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review of @ljabouttown.bsky.social 's book Still Alive on Goodreads, Kobo, and Amazon. I hope you'll all go read the book, if you haven't already! It's been a month and I'm still thinking about it.

@ajstanton.bsky.social, @markburrow.bsky.social told me that I must read Sex Robots Must Die. He did not tell me I would be looking up the word "teledildonics." I'm not sure which one of you I'm more mad at! 😱🤣

12) Admire your handiwork. Voilà, it's a notebook!!

9) Set your machine speed to medium, or lower if you need to. This is not a job to race through.
10) Put on those quilting gloves! You'll have a better grip on the package as you put it through the machine.
July 10, 2025 at 12:21 AM
7) Take a couple of stitches on a folded scrap of cloth before starting the book; this will anchor your stitches and make it easier to get your stitches going on the cover.
8) Once you're past the scraps, line the needle up with the fold on the cover.
July 10, 2025 at 12:21 AM
6) Lower the foot pressure so that the foot is gliding across the cover, not scraping.
July 10, 2025 at 12:21 AM
5) Stitch settings: make sure the needle is at its centred position (this should be the default stitch width), and the stitch length should be the longest you have, or 5.0 if you can actually go longer than that.
July 10, 2025 at 12:21 AM
4) Fold the cover and pages back out (inside out is good to make that crease flat again) and line them up, using the bulldog clips to clip them at the upper corners.
July 10, 2025 at 12:21 AM
2) Gather your sewing supplies: you should have a 100/16 denim needle, an open-toed foot (Janome would have it numbered as F2), 2 bulldog clips, and quilting gloves, if you have them.

I made chapbooks for Christmas 2024, and would be happy to share with you what I learned about using the sewing machine to bind them. Also the guillotine didn't work well for me -- I ended up using a quilting ruler and a 60mm rotary cutter, and that worked beautifully.
