Apart from the ridiculous story, the leaden humour, the hammy overacting and the snail-like pace it’s sort of ok.

Ah, Wheels of Steel. God bless ‘em for crowbarring that in. 14 year old me would have been listening to just that and none of this alternative crap. But then 14 year old me was an idiot in lots of other ways, too.

I still remember - with a shudder - that deeply weird pseudo-smile Brown started doing in interviews, flashing his new teeth as if someone was operating him remotely. People will vote for a rogue, a bully, even a liar. They won’t vote for a weirdo.

Why is Speaking Normal so poorly understood by the Spadsters? Because they’re all weirdos too. They haven’t digested the one obvious fact of politics - that if a leader sounds like a robot, he will be unpopular with humans.
