Oh my, that's a lot of snow in the UP! I think 6-9 inches is too much for a first snow. I prefer to start with 3 inches...dip my toe in the snow....

I've be seeing how the lake effect snows have started, but sounds like you have a system coming your way? It is a good thing you're already stocked up & ready to stay home!
