Lol Matt Van Epps was part of the $8 million graft purchase of those pesticide-laden sock masks (which had visible holes, for those of you who don’t live here). Incredible shit.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

The problem of writing a novel while holding down a day job is that I just performed 4 hours of big brain work giving it all I got and now I have to go clock in for 8 more hours today

a very good and important response from @slotkin.senate.gov and company in response to Trump's threats. You absolutely cannot allow a would-be authoritarian to know that the surest way to make his opponents back down is to threaten them with violence.

Kamala Harris & Justin Jones choosing not to even use Aftyn’s name… really something. And also utterly unsurprising. This is why so many of us hate the Dems, fyi. No such thing as solidarity, only self-interest & status quo.

Whoa: A federal court just barred Texas from using its new congressional map, drawn by the GOP to target Dems.

"Substantial evidence shows that Texas racially gerrymandered the 2025 Map."

Court says the old map must be used in 2026. Appeals are certain. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

you can’t “well actually” child abuse, dog
Predictable but still amazing to watch people who spent literally years accusing every librarian, teacher, and trans person they could find of sexually grooming children suddenly throw themselves in with "actually it's ephebophilia"
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

Gerrymandering relies on low turn out. A wave can break that

Vote @aftynbehn.bsky.social
One potential downside of gerrymanders is that they break during waves.
As Republicans fret about low base enthusiasm, the special election in #TN07 shifts from Solid to Likely Republican.

Eight months later, Epstein was found dead in a prison run by the Trump administration.
