Do you think they deliver 5 hours away

Fuck now I want a cannoli. I forgot about cannoli.

Could you imagine going to a debate and saying “I think we should eviscerate the health insurance industry. The mere existence of private insurers deciding which procedures are ‘necessary’ is a crime against humanity”? I’d get tomatoes thrown at me.

Lmao

It’s in “edit profile” when you go to your profile page (unless you’re being sarcastic 😅)

When I somehow figure out how to make that filter, I’ll be sure to make an exception for just you :)

There should be a way to block people who have never made an actual username

Congrats!

That stripe of flowers is such a good idea!!! I might have to steal that for my own wedding dress 🤭 (someday…)

Creeps that are into laser??? I suppose there’s creeps that are into everything.

I guess I’m not sleeping tonight! I’d just be giving the somnophiliacs what they want!

To summarize my essay (bsky please make long posts please): Independent artists don’t really use copyright anyway, it would mostly fuck over rich people. There’s also plenty of other ways to make money than royalties, especially if we reconfigure our economy to create wealth equality.

The True Solution hanging over our collective head like the Sword of Damocles, however, is UBI. If I’m guaranteed $60,000 a year and unlimited free healthcare, I don’t especially care if I get much less from making a game; that money just goes to buying extras, not keeping the lights on.
November 1, 2025 at 8:05 PM
The benefit of Letting Poor People Appreciate Art is pretty good though. As much as I want to get money, a kid in a less wealthy country should still get to play my game if he wants to.

Also fucking over ultra-rich entities like Disney/Spotify/celebrity pop stars would be really great.

Games neither have live performances nor significantly viable physical objects (anymore), so admittedly, my personal industry would suffer while others would probably be a lot more equal. (Please, people with more knowledge about this theory, please correct me!)
November 1, 2025 at 7:54 PM
If you’re an indie dev, I guess someone can commission you??? But that’s still a fuckton of money, games take a long time to make. Mid-size studios that self-publish to Steam would evaporate if they don’t luck into a successful Kickstarter/government patronage.
November 1, 2025 at 7:47 PM
Now. I am, admittedly, not exactly completely convinced about this idea despite arguing for it. Especially because video games would kind of stop existing unless the government subsidized the entire industry. They’re too expensive to make and too easy to distribute online.
November 1, 2025 at 7:29 PM
A lot of indie artists already basically act without the concept of copyright. You get money by commission, and then your art is on the internet, free for basically everyone to see. If the median person has more money and less expenses (eating the rich assumed), more commissions can happen.

Instead of Taylor Swift making a single song and getting royalties from it for years, one entity would pay her upfront to make it. She can sell CDs/vinyls that would have value because they’re official. She can do concerts. She would lose a fuckton of money, but she would make a reasonable amount.
November 1, 2025 at 7:25 PM
To answer the crux of your question, a copyright-less society would function by artists being paid once per piece of art via contract, for physical items that are given extra worth because they’re made by the original artist, for services like live performances, and by government-funded patronage.

“if you *admit*”

Still evil, go to hell

I love doing this!!! My friends know me as the person who will always look up anything interesting and/or unexplained, to the point that they’ll wait for me to tell them my findings instead of researching themselves because they know I’m already doing it 😅

Research is fun!!!
