Hi there—me again, the guy who keeps saying RFK Jr doesn't have to say he's banning vaccines to make them disappear, the guy who urges you to get up to date on all your vaccinations.

This week had already given me multiple reasons to triple down on my warnings; Friday, Vinay Prasad gave me another.
NEW: The F.D.A. announced in an internal memo that 10 children died "because of" the Covid shot. Other experts want to see proof.

“This is a profound revelation,” Dr. Prasad's memo said. “For the first time, the U.S. F.D.A. will acknowledge that Covid-19 vaccines have killed American children.”

This is why OpenAI is selling so aggressively to education at all levels—they want to create entire generations of users incapable of reading, writing and thinking without ChatGPT to hold their hands

And teachers and professors should call this out for what it actually is
To bear out this rosy projection, HSBC assumes that OpenAI will become "as ubiquitous [...] as Microsoft 365" (345mm users worldwide) while bringing in 10x the number of users (3bn).

Harry Connolly (@byharryconnolly.bsky.social) is one of my fave authors.

He needs $ help. harryjconnolly.com/17553-2/

For a good binge read, grab his completed epic fantasy trilogy The Great Way.

His "A Key, an Egg, an Unfortunate Remark" is the best standalone urban fantasy I've read.

It’s blowing my mind that schools, universities, public services would run headlong into this. We spent 15 years documenting black boxes. This is a black box in a black hole!
I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

I promise you, the gaping maw of loneliness & a lack of purpose borne of the mismatch between the self you truly are & the one-size-fits-all mold of patriarchal masculinity will NOT be filled by subjecting a woman to pregnancy, childbirth, and unequal divisions of labor just so you can be a father.

Microsoft Excel also does not understand jokes

Genuinely, it is such a serious problem that academics and media outlets are presenting text processing software as if it could ever "understand" anything. All this does is misinform the public and do supply free PR for tech companies

You can see the shift in movies as well. Silent films commonly called out police torture and corruption. Dirty cops were all over mainstream classic Hollywood releases.

I haven’t done a formal tally but “one bad apple” and “the crooks get off if I play by the rules” took over by the 1970s-1980s.
Fun fact: this is explicitly why Dick Wolf created Law & Order: he violently hates defense attorneys and felt tere weren't enough shows about how defendants and their lawyers are scum

(also when somebody "gets off on a technicality" that actually means the cops committed a crime against them)
