The Grammys this year is like the best evidence that queer people create the magic that shapes our world. Queer art is transformative. And no attempt to erase queer and trans people will ever stop our art from reaching you.

Trans folks have always been here (and have always served in the military). Albert Cashier was assigned female at birth but lived as a man. In 1862, he enlisted in the army and fought in multiple battles in the Civil War. 1/2

AOC: I don’t care what Elon Musk is doing behind the presidential seal, but in this country we hate Nazis. Kind of like a foundational defining thing. Two of the foundational things about American history is that we beat the confederates and we beat the Nazis.

For folks in the US, I can't emphasize enough how important it is to support queer art over the next few years. Project 2025 seeks to label queer art pornographic and those who make or distribute it pornographers and sex offenders. We can't roll over and accept that. Queer art will live forever.

The most important thing we need as queer folks to survive this shit is joy. Joy is resistance. Joy and community. We need to center queer joy. And I promise I’m going to remind you often in the years ahead. But before we can do that, we have to let ourselves weep. Please, grieve.
