Today, I honor my father, and I fear for my grandchildren. I didn’t expect to be fighting fascism in my own country, and against opponents who are so diabolically good at what they are doing. Like many of you, I shudder to think of the world we leave to those who come after us.

After the WWII, Love married and lived in New York balancing political activities with a career in the communications field. He died on October 27, 1990

He shares a birthday with Patrick Roosevelt, who is also pictured in the second image (behind the machine gun).

Albert returned to the US on July 2, 1938 aboard the President Harding (depicted above). He later served in the US Navy during WWII. He passed on February 17, 1988.

Joseph spoke Italian, Spanish, and English. He returned to the US on Dec. 20, 1938.

He worked as a machinist in Waynesburg, OH and married Nadeane Stratton. He passed on Jan. 21, 1990 and is buried at Sandy Valley Cemetery, Waynesburg, Ohio.

Joseph was assigned to the Albacete Auto Park beginning April 5, 1937; later the Benisa hospital beginning June 9, 1937; the Denia hospital beginning June 28, 1937; the 45th Division Transport, Sanidad; and later to 5th Army Corps, Sanidad, Transport. His last unit was back with the 45th Division.

Erwin is believed to have died in 1970. More research is needed to better understand his life after Spain.

Erwin never received a passport to travel to Spain but rather worked his way over to Europe and jumped ship to enter Spain either in 1937 or 1938. He served in the Lincoln-Washington Battalion in the Service Sanitaire and was wounded in action on March 10, 1938 at Belchite.
