i'll have to disagree. i have an Issey piece and the cool part is the knit being insanely detailed and durable (same with Mame Kurogouchi). i hate apple and find this line of his pretty bland, but i cant really call it a scam (imo the iphone is though)

the last thing is the keyboard itself and for that you can go with a few different styles. the regular, split key (two separate halves of a keyboard that make it more ergonomic) and ortholinear (the keys are rows rather than jagged which is more comfy)

i think the reason is that people who wear them tend to not style them, or when they do they dont go far enough with a style so they become too utility based. Hedi Slimane, Anthony Vaccarello, Mcqueen, and loads of other designers make them become the coolest things ever with just that bit of effort
