192 days is either; A long time to hit some serious milestone(s) OR a long time to get nothing done.

It's also not actually a long time.

Another route would be to tie it in with @geoffkeighley.bsky.social and
@thegameawards.com. 🧐

Again just ideas / thoughts.

I'd love to see PYG getting center stage global treatment for indie games worldwide, would be phenomenal.

Outside of support for the event itself, we'd also need personal support to be able to sustain it.

Time is money. And currently PYG twice a year, works.

Also I don't take these things lightly, I've been busy penning the future of PYG, outside of 280 chars, incase there was ever an opportunity to take it "next level".

But yeah, most of where I'd "love" to take PYG would likewise require "next level" support. 🫡

Talking solely of the event itself. It would require full Stream support, including hiring hosts etc, production et al, Steam Event support, loc services + sign language.

To get even this would need "big" reputable sponsor(s) willing to "invest" into the future of indie games.

I'd love to go all out with PYG in 2026+ with the regular twice a year #PitchYaGame, live streams, spaces, IRL stuff, Supporting Steam Events et al.

But.. unless I had real support, the amount of work / cost involved in doing ANY awards show or event++ is HUGE.

Any takers? 🤔

When we're busy in dev mode, we tend to follow rigid / set paths, hence why they don't always show themselves.
November 15, 2025 at 8:02 PM
I fear people get stuck in a perpetual need to "promote the end product" and not enough about the journey taken. 🫡

Lot's of people out there we could all take inspiration from.

It shouldn't always be about a call to action. Help, give back, inspire and more.

Additionally, if you post the same thing, constantly, for years on end, over time, the message WILL naturally lose its impact. (PYG included)

Games take a long time so make sure you change it up somewhat and compensate by ensuring you're making your journey more interesting. 🫡

It's important to also remember, these platforms are free, and ultimately don't owe anyone anything. 🫡

Add this into the mix along with your regular roadmap updates, promotional milestone updates, important announcements, pre-release info, release announcement, post-release updates etc.

and event / movement / IRL related stuff.

Make it interesting for your future audience 🫡

This is one of the core reasons #PitchYaGame is twice a year. If ALL you do is pitch.. 🫣

So much other cool stuff you could share too (once you're comfortable / reached certain major milestones)..

Share info about processes, behind the scenes stuff? community interactions ??

Now go get working on ya game, there's 6 and a half months between now and June 😅😌

If we were to go one further and compare the PYG announcement with the PitchYaVania one.. even bigger forces are at play, two parts; the Silk Song Effect, plus there was also the quote pitch factor.

PYG: 18.6K views on X
PYV: 794.4K views on X

The very reason PYG is known is through 5.5 years of consistency, timeliness et al, but equally the LinkedIn stats above also highlights just how volatile posting can be at times.

Plus its not as known / relevant over there.

The views / impressions on the PYG live announcement are a good example of how relevance and your own visibility on each platform plays a huge part.

People "know" PYG exists mostly on X.

X: 18.6K views, 253 likes.
BSky: 158 likes (no views over there)
LinkedIn: 177 impressions.
