I think that’s still a viable option.

Gomez or jones

If we wanted to keep the defensive solidarity and also bring Salah back in, we could do similar with Dom on the left instead of gakpo.

He can’t play every 3 days though is the issue. I think the extra balance was more to do with the extra midfielder in the team (szobo instead of Salah) and the midfield two being more disciplined and probably also West Ham being shite.

I do think Gomez is a bit underrated as an attacking full back, considering he’s primarily a cb. He’s a decent crosser of the ball.

I think Guehi would help our current position. As a full back/cb hybrid on either side would give more balance to the team. A another on the pitch would actually wants to be behind the ball. Also just having the option to drop Konate would be helpful.

We also wanted huijsen. Definitely something we’ve identified, but haven’t managed to get it over the line.

Has Chiesa ever had just a normal game of football for Liverpool. The lad is only ever on the pitch when we are in crisis mode.

Yesterday though, worryingly, It did seem like multiple players were not giving it there all. There was more than one instance of a player pulling out of a challenge. That will never go down well with the home crowd. It’s the very least we expect as fans.

Some of the players’ individual form has maybe been affected by it. But the way the team is playing as a unit, in a tactical sense, has been terrible. I find it hard to believe that the loss of friend is responsible for that. It’s a coaching/player profile issue.
