Plausible

The geese there are deeply familiar with people, as they’re living in a place with daily heavy traffic, bike commuters, runners, light rail going by, the works.
They walked so purposefully, it looks like the rally was set up in their regular path to the river and they were just not having it.

To deepen the shame, I took sooooo many years of French (I’m not fluent but at one point I could fact check most movie subtitles)

I may or may not have dressed as Poirot for Halloween as a young teen girl 🙃

Yes!
I went through my massive Agatha Christie phase in about 8th grade so I imagine I just scowled and plowed through rather than insist on an explanation. (And I was the time of actual, physical dictionaries, which would’ve just given an American definition anyway.)

Also took me ages to realize courgette is just the French for zucchini, not a whole different food.

(This is all particularly embarrassing as I read a lot and love to cook 🤦🏻‍♀️ )

I think I always heard it in British tv where they weren’t necessarily in view but the word was clearly referencing a vegetable.
Even now, understanding it to be a squash, I remain mystified about the name. Like is this a poor-man’s-bone thing?

Has the conversation turned to “marrow” yet? Bc that one threw me off for actual years (literally did not know what was being referenced.)

After the US tariffed an island populated solely by penguins they became resistance symbols ✊🏽

The present is a weird time to be alive but I always appreciate a random cute person appearing on my apps for no apparent reason 🙌🏽
Concession guy was correct; have a brilliant day!

Ha!
I had to institute a Yeast Heuristic based on rate of change rather than letting my own idealism/hopes&dreams for the yeast babies guide my baking- so I absolutely get it.

Sometimes it’s hard to know the difference between your moon being in Pisces and having undiagnosed ADHD 🤷🏻‍♀️

(either way the hack is to join your local buy nothing group & ask for yeast- somehow, despite many more steps, it’s still infinitely easier than going to the store)

Thank you for reminding me to put it on the list!

I, a privileged 1.33 language speaking American teenager, clumsily ordered pepperoni pizza while on a school trip to Germany.
Fortunately I’ve always loved a weird happenstance, so I truly enjoyed the cosmically thin tomato sauce over atomically thin crust with whole peperoncini on top. Super good!

I ask myself that pretty often 🙃

Tryna make a joke out of the misplaced emphasis in my mind as I read this (fur babymama vs furbaby mama*), but can’t quite make it work.
*former is the stray you scoop up to take to the Feral Cat Coalition, latter is you after you adopt her: ?
(swear it was funnier as a vague, unformed notion 🤨)

Bean salad requires perfection- gotta restrain present self on behalf of future self (the thankless cur)!

Not to be crass, but “just lying around” was even how most of the men my age talk of getting access to pornography as teenagers.
(Slightly more covertly than the average “around”, but not a lot. Boyscout recycling drives feature pretty often.)

Are there GenX tech critics besides the old school recode/verge crew? Kara and Nilay (etc) never stop about it.

I really appreciate the emphasis on consistency, repetition, and the basics. Feels like giving the subconscious the means to do its wild things.

Tremendously cool

I’d put money on the 90s tv aesthetic dream NOT being a key to any breakthroughs, but it very much amuses me to see it memorialized in sideways, 3am, dark-of-night handwriting- which is reward enough.
