A tumblr post by @ourflagmeanssteddyhands with a picture of Izzy at the beginning of s2 and one from calypsos birthday were he wears makeup, has his star tattoo covered and instead drawn next to the mouth like a beauty mark. The text of the post reads:”today I learned that in the 1700s beauty marks (referred to as mouches)held different meanings based on where they were placed. Wearers would put one near the corner of their eye when in love, and one on their cheek to indicate flirtatiousness. So that COUlD mean Izzy deliberately erased his ‘taken’ x and redrew it to say ‘available’?? I hate myself.

this page of izzy hands' diary was actually recovered....
izzys opening monologue from s1e6. it is written in early modern english so as to be period-accurate. there is a crossed out heart with "ET + IH" written in it. at the bottom are two stick drawings: one is of izzy stabbing stede (who is crying and bleeding out). an arrow pointing at izzy says "me (real pirate)" and another at stede saying "stupid twat". the second drawing is of ed with his arm on izzys shoulder, stede dead behind them. an arrow pointing at ed and iz says "partners in crime". it is important to note that izzy draws himself taller than stede and only slightly shorter than ed.
