I mean don’t get me wrong, I would *personally* enjoy getting whisked out of the grind from time to time to stay in hotels and see new places in peace, but no one else would lol.

Yeah that’s kinda cool I guess, but I know some guys who have to travel a lot and it seems to SUCK for their wives and kids.

Okay how about “origins of the word in its currently fashionable usage”

Good reminder that jus soli citizenship is not only important in the US, but its absence in many other countries is a human rights violation. No one should ever face deportation or second-class rights from the place they were born and grew up.

Simply one of the greatest films ever made.

they may be willing to hand over a drunk Fox daytime host though

Which is like, crazy, because *so much* of it was explicitly developed in a European and/or LatAm context, and those are the places that have seen political movements explicitly based on it.

Is this a case where those further down the chain of command should be held accountable as well?
November 28, 2025 at 6:46 PM
Oh yeah, charge everyone who can be charged. However, I suspect that a lot of what ICE and CBP are doing is technically legal ... but none of them should remain in their jobs after this.
November 28, 2025 at 6:24 PM
Yeah but at this point there are certain institutions that are so corrupted that anyone remaining should be shunned from government work for life (and polite society), if not necessarily charged with anything.

What is this from?
November 28, 2025 at 6:16 PM
Not sure of the numbers, but the overall point, that wherever state capacity actually existed, some form of what we call “welfare” existed is still true and Badenoch’s claim is shockingly illiterate.

Oh no doubt
November 28, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Almost certainly AI slop too
November 28, 2025 at 4:22 PM
It's seen as at least *a* function of the state for as long as states have existed.
November 28, 2025 at 3:59 PM
But even so, the Roman Empire was already doing (at least in Rome and its environs) it even before Christianity came along!
November 28, 2025 at 3:51 PM
Also, to the extent that this *didn't* happen it was when there was no state at all, and even then it was a major responsibility of the Church

Motivation is a hell of a thing
November 28, 2025 at 3:46 PM
And it only stopped because the wheels came off of the whole thing (for other reasons)
November 28, 2025 at 3:44 PM
Crazy how the New Testament clearly shows the emergence of a non-denom conservative evangelical church called like "Gracesong at the Hills" and it took over 2000 years for Christians to see the light.

I have to go to Lowe's later so I can fix some things over the weekend.
