doing somethings before i stream again tomorrow and saturday. thought about climbing to the top of the mountain for fun but the second i thought about it a giant rock rolled down the hill at me.

A Wish Out of Water
A breeze slicked with salt brushed across Simon’s face, sending the brackish smell up his
nose. He pulls a face, eyes crinkling and lip twisting, but continues to stand against the wind.
The edge of the pier was comforting, especially the sound of the lapping waves against the
wooden beams below him. However, his shoes were soaked from the tide and the walk up here,
making everything feel soggy and cold. He would much rather be at home, but staying home all
day was driving him to near insanity.
Simon glanced back down at his phone again, checking the time, when a notification
popped up. Landlord. Rent is due in two days.
He pockets his phone and lifts his chin to stare up into the cloudy sky, swearing under his
breath. Pathetically, he stomps his feet against the wood, listening to it creak and whine under his
weight.
God, he wishes he had better luck. God, he wishes he had better luck.
As though the sea could read his thoughts, a tiny silver fish leaped from the water and
flopped onto the pier in front of him with a plop. Simon took three startled steps back.
It was no larger than a child’s toy, no smaller than a pretty fishing lure. He knelt to
inspect it closer, finding that the scales seemed to shine despite the lack of light on the pier. How
did it jump so high out of the water? It was such a small thing. Did it get thrown up by the tide?
Or maybe his stress is causing him to hallucinate. Either way, he felt too bad for it to let it dry
out on the pier and die.

Simon reached to scoop it up, but before he could cup his hands around it, the fish
wriggled and seemed to lift the upper half of its body. And speak.
“You know,” it said, so shrill that Simon nearly covered his ears, “you should be careful
when you wish for something.”
He jerks back, nearly sliding off his feet. “What?”
The fish flopped again, a wet splat sounding against the wood and water. It blinked at
him, unbothered by how absurd this seemed to Simon. “I could hear your struggles, your
thoughts. What is it that you want?”
It was too surreal of a situation for him to dismiss this as a hoax. “You’re a talking fish.”
“A small fry, if you will, yes,” the fish replied, seeming to narrow its eyes. “This size of
my body does not change the wisdom I hold, nor the power, what is it that you seek?”
The fish seemed to be both mocking him and giving him a chance at something. Surely
this is just a strange dream. Maybe he isn’t even here at the pier, but at home asleep in bed.
“I don’t know, I just need something to change,”
The fish glimmered in the puddle that accumulated around it. “Different? I can grant you
“different.” I do warn you, yes, I do, that water likes to play tricks. Rapids can change at a
moment’s notice; a whirlpool starts up in seconds.”
In a fit of desperation, without thinking, Simon blurted, “I wish to be lucky. I want to be
lucky.”
The fish blinked, flopping back in its puddle which sent water splattering at his feet.

“You wish to be lucky,” it hummed, tasting the words. “A common wish, like the
common wave. They all crash in the end.”
Simon’s heart started pounding harder. He didn’t know why, but the fish seemed to stop
mocking him. Now, he takes on a gravely serious tone. Did he make the wrong wish? The
reaction of the fish only made him question his hasty words more than he was already.
“Wait, what do you mean?”
Before he could finish, the fish jumped up above the pier, sending itself back into the
water, sending a ripple across the surface of the sea.
The oncoming silence was almost suffocating. It only broke with the howling of wind in
his ears, the crashing of waves against the shore.
Simon stood frozen, feeling the wind tug at his jacket again. It only got colder.
It felt like hours before he moved again, taking a few steps backward from the water
below him. Is he so tired that he imagined this? Is he sick? Is this a dream? Thoughts upon
thoughts whirred around his head. Questions with no answers, the fish was already gone.
And then, as if to answer his thoughts, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out
with a furrowed brow, getting water on the screen with his cold and clammy hands. It was an
email from a job he’d applied for months ago, a job he had long since forgotten he applied to. He
had not heard anything from them. No updates. No rejection Not until now.
We’re pleased to inform you that you have been selected for an interview! If you would,
please pick an afternoon interview slot. Thank you for applying to us, Simon Lasker!

Simon’s breath caught in his throat. This must be his big break. How long has he waited
for a moment like this? Months? Years? A job is tangible, it’s within reach.
For the first time in months, a hot feeling of hope bloomed in his chest. He smiled to
himself, with a sense of caution. Nervous.
His eyes moved back to the water. It lapped at the pier.
“What does this mean for me?” He murmured, half to himself.
The sea responded only with crashing waves, indifferent. It had no more answers for him.
No more help.
As Simon turned to walk away, his phone buzzed again.
Landlord.
Rent is not due tomorrow; it’s been pushed to the end of the week. Luck was coming, just
as the fish had promised—but how long would that last?
Doubt ate at him. But with how things were going leading up to this moment, he was
ready to take his chances.

I was so so so into Future Trunks's look when I was in the 5th grade or so he was literally all I would talk about to anyone that enjoyed Dragon Ball (my father and cousin) to the point that I annoyed them. I still think he looks sick as hell.

everyone in the house is at dinner (I am too tired to go out) so we're hanging out. i put the leg rest up for her to lay on and now she's just sleeping hard between my knees
