I remember being told we had to reject prospective students at the interview stage if they made it clear they couldn’t attend every session in person, because attendance was linked to course funding.

Definitely. And I'm sure people could watch games I've run and come away feeling "Well, I could definitely do (better than) that." So it's empowering.

I try to watch a selection but it's quite a small number I have time to actually follow.

Mostly I'll watch a few episodes of things I don't know when I can - and try to get good ideas I might borrow, or identify things I definitely wouldn't do with my group.

I don't know if this helps at all but around a year ago someone delivered a full bed frame and mattress to our house and just left it outside. They didn't knock or put anything through the door. Also we hadn't ordered a bed.
It stayed there for most of a week, then someone must have taken it away…

Also: it does connect with the previous Desert Whispers actual play podcast we did (although it won’t matter if you haven’t heard it). It may even connect with current/future actual plays…
