You know it is a bad sign when even some of the people who work on the AI systems for Amazon think they are using ai way too much.

Well, considering that Aniplex no doubt had to give Amazon approval for this to be done... I guess Sony kind of did try it first?

and to be clear: when I say 'production companies' i'm not talking just amazon, crunchyroll, netflix, etc. etc. I'm talking Aniplex, Toho, Toei, etc. Those guys would LOVE to never hire actors, animators, writers, the whole package, ever again. theyd do it in a second if they thought it'd work!!

It better be the Wolfgang Krauser kind of Blitzball... though I highly doubt it, sadly.

This isn't really their problem, though. They likely helped facilitate Amazon getting the license, sure, but this is absolutely a problem from the Japanese side approving Amazon using AI to dub the show.

And, to think, if primary production company/licensor Aniplex simply allowed another company to release it on home video over here they possibly could have had a complete English dub for Banana Fish YEARS AGO. I completely forgot it was from back in 2018, as I thought this show was from 2021 or so.

Huh, I don't recall getting that in my order. I got robbed!!

Now, yes, Aniplex is owned by a different division of Sony than Crunchyroll (Sony Music vs. Sony Pictures, though Aniplex does partially co-own some part of Crunchyroll), but it really just gives the indication that Banana Fish may be a test bed for what Crunchyroll might do in the future.
