I love the Soviet ones that had an additional column saying “through whose fault”: the printing house or the author.

The entry «elma» (apple) from M. Stachowski’s “Kurzgefaßtes etymologisches Wörterbuch der türkischen Sprache”, containing the following sentence: Das e- im Ttü. (statt des *ā-) resultiert aus der Istanbuler Aussprache, in der man die Vokale manchmal absichtlich disharmonisierte, um sich von der anat.-dial. Aussprache zu distanzieren, so z.B. auch in osm.-tü. akçe, kardeş, katmer, kerake, yaran ~ yaren, yava ~ yave.
