Even though I'm not even halfway over managing a sleepover with a bevy of 12yo boys, I'd like to move that every middle school teacher in America have their salaries immediately doubled.

Folks with the most to lose are often the ones who are more likely to standup and fight than the ones who are comfortable and could speak out more easily.
So many normal people being brave and then all these wealthy and powerful people being cowards. History will not be kind to the people like shari Redstone who enabled Trump.

This was the crux of every person I had to watch die of COVID who said, "But they said it wasn't that bad, it wasn't a problem!" They're living in an information environment and will stay in it until it literally kills them.
imo a core issue with this approach to resistance is that it fundamentally misunderstands the way in which our society is broken. there is *plenty* of evidence for our enemies’ brutality already; the problem is many people live in a completely different epistemic reality from us and cannot see it.

Gearing up the print copy of my COVID-19 compilation, and looks like I'm going to be forced to raise the price by 40% just to give bookstores a discount, instead of just selling it as cheap as possible?

There's a guy who our local Democratic delegate spent $500k calling a super crazy Republican (and why would anyone lie about that?), and I checked with him, and he would 100% be okay being used as an official "other side" voice here.

I’m no economist but I am pretty sure saving $6.2 million in NICU costs in infancy alone has also gotta translate to hundreds of millions of dollars of lifetime benefit, and not just in healthcare savings
A program in Flint, MI, gave $1,500 to any/all pregnant people and $500/month for the first year of their infant’s life.

Among the benefits, those babies experienced lower rates of prematurity and low birth weight, which resulted in fewer NICU admissions, saving the city of Flint $6.2 million/year.
