Did my annual trip up to Miller's Bakery in Cliffside Park for my Thanksgiving pies. Shout out to this unassuming place that puts out the best pies I've ever had in my life. The haul this year is a small apple crumb (fuck you Rapaport), small pumpkin, and this Bavarian creme stuffed pecan Danish

It's very funny that these two skeets were one after another.

Finally (for now at least), there's the Buffalo Creek disaster from 1972. Certainly not as well known as the Valdez or the Cuyahoga incidents, but it directly killed well over a hundred people.

Neglectful maintenance by coal companies resulted in dams failing and a "tsunami of coal" killing 125+

Up next, let's hit the famous Cuyahoga River fire, also from 1969. That was actually the 13th time that river caught on fire. But for the first time, the world at large stopped and said "wait, how tf is a river burning?"

Incidents like this helped form the EPA. The 2nd image is from the 1952 fire

Of huge note, they find that one of the main causes is Exxon/Mobil simply being too fuckin cheap to maintain their equipment properly. 96% of 2011 ground & water pollution wasn't human error or equipment straight failing, but poor piping/tubing.

1989 fire at the Exxon plant in Baton Rouge. This huge fire killed two and burned for weeks, as firefighters couldn't contain blazes. They let it exhaust the stored fuel. This was the 3rd Exxon disaster that year, following Valdez in Alaska and another tanker that spilled 117,000 gallons in Hawaii

Gonna do a mini thread on some lovely environmental disasters and general pollution before this country (and lots of the world) cracked down on stuff due to environmental activism.

Let's start with a big oil spill in the lovely Santa Barbara harbor back in 1969, thanks to Pres. LBJ and Union Oil.

So a bunch of my feed is talking about environmentalism and how bad it was back in the day. But as I scroll, I don't see the root of why it's coming up (don't get me wrong, pollution discussion is a good thing). It's just this stupid motherfucker AGAIN (didn't see it cuz of blocking thank god)

They keep doing the racism dial joke, but can't seem to figure out that it keeps going the wrong way with everyone

Man idk, I've had a LOT of Mexican food, and unless I've missed a whole genre, Mexican spice is like a 5 or 6. Southwest Asian is the 10, and both India and China can get really close. China usually not on how hot each one is, but on sheer volume of what they put in some dishes. Like this pic ++

You might be thinking "nah, he's just joking about there being psychics involved in the bar exam". Or maybe you aren't, because it's kim kardashian and something that incredibly dumb is very believable, but let me just end any speculation and lol. lmao even.

I saw that clip. He said "Bill Ackman spends a million dollars a day! Every day a million! Habibi, I don't even want that much!"

It ain't large, but shout out the Tucson botanical gardens. They just opened up a new Frida Kahlo wing, and it's gorgeous.

Really enjoying this short vacation.
