LA City Council strikes again
August 13, 2025 at 5:57 PM
Many attribute the one-term LA Sheriff's stances on immigration as a major contributor to his 15-point loss, but McDonnell refused to distance himself from his previous actions until the actual confirmation vote.

In October, Bass appointed former LA Sheriff Jim McDonnell as LAPD Chief despite fervent objections from immigration advocates. As Sheriff, McDonnell opposed SB54 (California's pretty mediocre sanctuary bill) and allowed ICE agents into County jails. boyleheightsbeat.com/what-does-l-...

Fortunately for everyone in LA, City Council recently approved “LAPD Live,” a massive new surveillance program that gives cops real-time access to public and private security cameras across the City! lapublicpress.org/2023/12/the-...

But Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom couldn't wait to grant DHS with unprecedented authorization to force local law enforcement agencies to cooperate with the feds. So, our Democratic elected officials simply asked the feds to take over four years early. clkrep.lacity.org/onlinedocs/2...

If you don't know about LA's National Special Security Event designation, you have no idea what's really happening in our city. Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom handed the Department of Homeland Security unprecedented authority to coordinate with local "law enforcement" through 2028.

Sanctuary is a dangerous lie that liberals have sold you. They were more concerned with patting themselves on the back than educating vulnerable people about the fascistic conditions they co-signed. They will never take meaningful action to block ICE.

Then why aren’t you doing more help them, Karen?

Despite campaigning on reversing Mitch O’Farrell’s failed policies, Hugo refuses to repeal Mitch’s 41.18 banishment zones; Hugo’s complacency has led to a
453% increase in 41.18 arrests since he took office.

Revoking access to health care for California's nearly 2 million undocumented immigrants will be a death sentence for thousands of people. Meanwhile, California is home to 197 billionaires.

Anyone who supports this lying clown is co-signing the violence he regularly inflicts on poor people.
btw Hugo was the only "progressive" on LA City Council to vote against changing racist zoning rules that would allow more affordable housing because he sides with NIMBYs.

In her budget, Mayor Karen Bass proposed slashing the City's street services department by $30 Million -- more than any other department.

Friendly reminder that @lacontroller.bsky.social is the *only* elected official in LA who has been sounding the alarm on our city’s complete failure to address the climate crisis. We will have many more and many worse crises if we do not make drastic changes.
