Capitalism, social media, genAI will make you think otherwise. But it’s always, always been about the process and how you express yourself through it — through art.

If you’re feeling anxious about the art world with the rapid expansion of genAI, this is one more reason to pick up a pencil again.

GenAI might steal your results, but drawing traditionally will remind you that nothing and nobody can take away your skill, your experience and your years of effort.

As my work shifted almost entirely to digital, I drifted into doing everything on my tablet. Yet drawing on it is also heavily associated with work, while a sketchbook means absolute freedom!

Well, I did do gesture drawings on paper, but they were study sessions so I wouldn’t count them.
