I need to say a few words about Darren.
He was, in many ways, the doctor all doctors needed to be. Compassionate, caring, an advocate and a poet. We were all privliged to have him in our world.
And we are poorer for his departure from it.
Wherever you are, I hope there are paddles and pedals.

To decide to become an advocate ask “Is it fair?” And it’s is this unfairness that drives @anguspratt.bsky.social to be an advocate for lung cancer and patients in Canada. But it is his vulnerability that makes his advocacy so powerful. With @picardonhealth.bsky.social.

Can we use this another moment to talk about the outrageous cost of medical licensing exams in Canada? I paid >10k in exam fees as a Canadian trained physician. I, like most of my peers, used loans to pay for these. How about we reduce the cost for all?

This report lays out the stark reality of Canada’s HHR Crisis.

“There is currently a deficit of 22,823 between supply and demand for family physicians in Canada, and only approximately 1,300 new graduates per year. At this rate, Canada will never solve the existing physician shortage.”
