This may or may not be a good essay, but... I'm starting to get exhausted from this particular discourse.
I also liked how 'Barbie' and 'Superman' looked, and these three films are big budget blockbusters. Small/indie movies also exist. Movies that do indeed look like movies.

Ya'know, I'm not entirely against "cozy". More the weird over-labeling of things as such, and when the thing in question doesn't have much for me beyond "it's cozy!"
For example, these two ex-Beatle albums are like the warmest blanket to me. They got me through a hard time many many moons ago, too.

For the 1980 live-action 'Popeye' movie, the filmmakers had a whole coastal village of like 17-or-so buildings constructed somewhere in Malta. All for this movie, based on a comic strip w/ multiple iconic animated adaptations. The place still exists, too!
