I'm super psyched to say one of my essays is included in this week's @memoirland.bsky.social roundup! Especially given the impressive company I'm in.

Read them all (and especially Robin Pickering's "The Fuckitall." So good.)

To be fair, he wasn't a very good attorney general.
Schmitt is a former state attorney general. Of course he knows about this case.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Do you support the pardon of the former Honduran president?

SCHMITT: I'm not familiar w/ the facts or circumstances

S: What do you mean you're not familiar? It's been front page news

SCHMITT: You spew Democrat talking points every single week, which is why your ratings are so bad

The question missing in interviews with filmmakers on whether films MUST be seen in a theater is, "How many times have you viewed a film in a public theater in the last year?" (Film festivals & private screenings don't count.)

These cuts are such a hit job on the University of #Nebraska that I wonder Mizzou commissioned it, as revenge for the Flea Kicker.

HIV diagnoses increased across New York City in 2024, part of a multi-year surge after years of decline. The spike comes as the Trump administration has moved to cut federal funding to test, treat and prevent the disease.

That makes 214.

"We don't need perfect political systems; we need perfect participation."

I interviewed César Chávez a month before he died in 1993, and I've never met anyone more sanguine. He made sure none of the injustices he endured were in vain.

Something to remember now.

this book banning shit is *infuriating* to me, not only as a writer and a human being, but as a parent. I do not give a tiny rat’s ass what you allow or don’t allow your own kids to read. but how fucking dare you decide what MY kid gets to have access to. parent your own kids, you loser weirdos!!!
If you don't want to read a book about a magnificent unicorn who accidentally sits in some paint and feels silly (and then discovers he's still lovable in his mistake), then that's fine. But to ban this book (for 10 years!) to make sure no one else can read it because of the word "heinie"? SMH. 8/

Why can't the right win without gerrymandering?
Why can't the right uphold free speech when it isn't about them?
Why can't the right mind their own business?
Why is the right the party of Fuck Your Feelings until it's time to joke about that mediocre podcaster who caught one in the neck?
The real question is not "Why is Bluesky so left-coded," the real question is "Why can't the right exist in a social media environment without algorithmic assistance, where people can ignore them"
