If your politics have become “We must do fascism-lite, or the fascists will win”, then the fascists have already won.
This is political blackmail dressed up as pragmatism. Justifying their nasty policies with “Reform will be worse”.

Everyone tells me that unicorns are incredibly rare, yet here we are, looking out across the expansive plains of male police entitlement and thinking about how incredibly rare these cases apparently are, and all I see is wall to wall fucking unicorns
Another of those oh so rare bad apples.

Roughly 30 seconds into the launch, all hell broke loose.

THIS - unfortunately, our media culture is so degenerate that the only curb on trash like this is when their loose lips sink their empoyers with one large defamation settlement too many.
this should immediately have a commentator REMOVED from their roles, instead it’s a strong signal of just how decrepit and servile to power nz media is

This is so bad. Utterly shameful. No excuses for this blatant misogyny and protection of powerful predators….that’s what this is about - protecting the powerful regardless of their crimes - a woman is to blame. Career protection? Yeah that’s clear woman-hate right there.

The offending is widespread and it's clear that the legal system is not up to the task of dealing with it.
If you can be considered prominent in any way, and the bar for prominence is low (sitting on a few boards is enough), you're going to be treated with all the leniency possible.

This whole thread goes a long way to explain a) why NZ is a cesspit of white male mediocrity, and b) why the mediocre white males DESPISED Ardern

It's disgusting, abusive, misogyny as a cultural mindset.

This is what corruption looks like.

Rich people and their paid lackeys, ensuring they get richer by reducing the rights of everyone else… when 98% of submissions opposed this.

There were 159,000 written submissions on the Regulatory Standards Bill (on top of over 23,000 submissions last year) - numbers that are second only to the Treaty Principles Bill in NZ’s history.

More than 98% of public submissions were opposed.

There’s a word for this, but it’s not democracy.

Couple of branching thoughts before I move on.

As long as we continue to view management and leadership as about control and status laddering, rather delivering results and elevating those around us, we will continue to incentivise unsuitable and sometimes downright broken people to cling to power.
