I have a very healthy obsession with Star Trek.

Pour one out; COVID ruined Earl Grey for me.

Pinned
Finally! This took longer than you might expect to write, but it's done. I'm going to try to not edit it now (unless there's spelling mistakes).

On Orion slave women, misogyny and hyperadrenalism, including having to watch the episode again!

This is Bound to raise my blood pressure.
Enterprise, or by the episode in question, Star Trek: Enterprise, was certainly one of the shows within the Trek canon of all time. It started out trying to appeal to a different section of the 18-34...

The absolute worst part of watching 90s Trek is looking up actors on Memory Alpha and seeing how many guest stars have passed away.

I really, really hope that our new neighbour is just burning toast at ten to three in the morning and I'm *not* having a stroke. That would suck.

The end is in sight with the cross stitch bookmark I'm making, and I'm still watching Voyager. Alice: yet another Tom Paris questions his place in life episode, in which he neglects his duties and life, to which B'Elanna just rolls her eyes and picks up his socks again.

After bingeing most of season 3 of Voyager in a particularly bad episode of insomnia, I'm back at it - this episode is the one where Harry gets a Space STI. The ensign really does get the short end of the stick quite often.

The Singularitarian fantasists who want us to elevate machines to consciousness are not interested in the happiness of all beings.

They want to degrade the biological body to a mere vessel, one they can discard. It's bunk theology for men who believe they're too smart and special to die.

This is narcissism masquerading as philosophy — the technophile elite are not recognizing a new soul in AI, they're falling in love with their creation, staring at their own reflection in a digital pool.

It is the ultimate in solipsism and has its roots in a pathological fear and denial of death.

Every time I watch Deadloch, I grow my appreciation of the storytelling through the characters. Vanessa, for example.

I'm always a little agog that big name podcasters, who run ads and always include a call to action for their Patreon, are fine with putting out poorly edited shows. Repeated sections, loud sniffles into the microphone and for the love of dog, do not drink coffee before facing a microphone.

I've read these sentences so many times and I still have no idea what they mean. Clicking through has yet to illuminate.
It looks like about 15-20 vehicles turned out for the Halifax ostrich convoy led by Gen Z Dutch maple syrup merchant Freek Schep

The ostrich convoy was lined up along a highway on the outskirts of Halifax earlier this morning

Apparently, they are comparing two groups, with one group experiencing an arbitrary one-year delay in prescription. But where is the group that skips the blockers entirely and goes straight to GAHT? You need to include that group as a variable for the study to be scientifically valid, right?
The “Pathways” trial is, IMO on more than one level, a thoroughly unethical piece of “research” to be carrying out on children, especially children who are part of a marginalised minority.

Farage can now be easily boxed in to a corner where his only ‘defence’ becomes: “Yes I spouted Kremlin propaganda & Putin worship but, unlike Nathan Gill, I didn’t need bribes to do it.”
It is, once again, a question of whether interviewers have the temerity to shut down his whining obfuscations.

In Star Trek, PADDs were treated like electronic reports; one document per device. My new headcanon is that they have different file formats because while I hope DRM is gone in fully automated gay space luxury communism, it certainly reflects *now* - as I wrangle a phone, tablet and 2 ereaders.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Sex work is work so I don't give a fuck but I do love seeing how much of the media has adopted a term, sex worker, that not long ago was largely limited to community spaces.

That's activism.

The group Mills had traveled with to Afghanistan parted ways with the then-congressional candidate in Tbilisi, Georgia, after they found out about the sex workers. It appears Mills went to Afghanistan...

“Things happen.”

Jamal Khashoggi was a journalist and Washington Post columnist who was literally murdered and dismembered by agents of the Saudi government inside a Saudi consulate.

Shameful. So shameful.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Mahmood understandably attracting flak for hypocrisy, I think it also demonstrates the toxic culture of the Home Office. Minister after Minister goes into that job and in short order becomes radicalised. They are clearly quickly infected by HO anti-immigrant groupthink. Dismantle the Home Office.

Banning AI content is a great way to create a space where there's fresh, unadulterated content from humans which they can steal and sell off for new AI to be trained on.

Everything I know about Jack Dorsey suggests this AI-free Vine reboot is just a venture capitalist abattoir for human creativity.
