I miss news that left me yawning rather than irate. I won’t be posting much original content, others have typically said it better. I’d rather be talking about dogs, or the amazing & fun animals of the world, or music but here we are. Proud Californian.

Here’s a closer look. Females burrow into the sand, lay eggs, males surround them to fertilize. Female wiggles out of the hole (looks like a lot of work!) and everyone tries to get back to the ocean.
Eggs develop, hatch when stimulated by high tide about 10 days later, and wash out to the ocean.

It’s #GrunionRun season in southern California! For those who don’t know, grunion are a fish that comes onto the beach to lay and fertilize eggs. In CA it happens during high tides after a full or new moon in spring. We don’t know where they go after they return to the ocean! 🦑
