planet, to reverse the dangerous current of history. There is enough outrage to bring down the old, and we have more than enough ideas to build the new. But we might have to accept defeat first. Not morally, perhaps, but certainly, in almost all political battlefields. Admitting this reality will liberate us from our delusions and give us the humility to change our vocabulary. I should know. When nobody asks any more for our opinion about how things should be, our words should be clear, humble and profound. We need words that will resonate in people's hearts. Our current chaos demands a poetic understanding, and nothing else will work. To beat the hate that is threatening to overcome us, we should be brave enough to talk about love in politics and this time without a smirk. We should borrow words from poetry and even religion, whatever works. It is the only way to see whether we are still the majority, to remind ourselves how numerous we are and that we will hold the line for basic morality. We need to do this now, and now is an infinite word. This is a manifesto against a heartless world. This is the new vocabulary for the progressive politics of emotions. Because now is the time for the new, the beautiful and the humane. For when nothing holds, you and I have to remind each other that we are, we were and we will be. Ece Temelkuran, 2025
