I don’t think people outside of healthcare realize how much AAP is standing out as a moral backbone of medicine right now, especially in pediatrics. There is so much fear at institutions. Seeing an org directly and repeatedly targeted refuse to budge an inch is extraordinary.

research on bullying in kids would seem to support this — we once thought kids who bully were emotionally damaged in some way, but turns out there are psychologically sound kids who bully anyway, bc having social power is something they enjoy. who wouldn’t?
I think one of the things that I have pissed the most people off across the most social contexts, over decades, is asserting a fairly simple claim: people who spend a great deal of time and energy policing/defining social norms in a particular setting probably enjoy doing that

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea
