I study animal and environmental history of Mongolia. Ph.D. he/him.
Lattimore is great. It is unfortunate some non Mongolists haven't moved passed his theories as if we haven't been working since then. But his books are great primary sources.

New York Jaw Harpmonica? (Not sure if that works... tried to figure out a joke about the ambiguity of aman khuur, but I'm just too tired to think it through).

*No I am not just shouting this out because Griffin had a very kind mention of me and my work, and a quote from me.

Aimag archives are a great untapped opportunity in Mongolia, and as I am quoted, the week I spent in Arwaikheer was the most productive in 2+ years in Mongolia.

She is responsible for destroying Central Eurasian Studies at IU. Mongolian Studies was killed by the corruption of Interim Chair Jamsheed Choksy and former Interim Dean Nick Cullather earlier, but that case may have been an early symptom of Whitten's rule.

Lots of people don't watch all shows, and they're right if they don't want to be disappointed.

Finally, Griffin Creech's "To the Mongolian Provinces : A Guide to Archival Fieldwork outside Ulaanbaatar" is a call to action for historians to look outside of UB for historical materials. My time in the provincial archive in Arwaikheer, South Khangai was my most productive work, I heartily agree!

Altantugs and Delgerjargal's "Sum-Negdel: Administrative and Cooperative System in the Mongolian People’s Republic" is on a topic dear to my heart. As they point out, collectives have generally been studied without also including the district they are coterminous with as part of the story.

Mari Valdur's article, "Vitality in the Bone Marrow : Qualities and Capacities of the Substance in Mongolia" is an anthropological study of bone marrow in Mongolia.
