If I told you what the issue tracker software looked like as an end user, you wouldn't believe about how bad it is, and how much it maximizes human error.

(Manual copy-and-paste of text blocks is part of it...)

There is no logical rubric for "violent speech" policy.

One trigger is if the threat is aimed at an *identifiable individual* There's a slightly different standard based on how public a figure they are, and whether or not the threat can be deemed immediate.

Brandenberg v Ohio is the root.

You can't comply perfectly; other humans are involved, and those other humans are often spiteful and report posts en masse. The people working in moderation are tired, cranky, and using human brain meat pattern matching, and have issue tracking software that would deeply offend you professionally.

After the Soviet Union collapsed, we got to see Soviet war plans for the Fulda Gap.

Spoiler: It involved using tactical nuclear weapons like confetti and not caring about radiological hazards to their troops.

The NATO Fulda Gap plan would've failed on day 2, and resulted in mutual escalation.

Both Wiseman and Chadwick had extensive personal libraries and access to a college library, and college students and playtesters who might know more about specific topics, but they're not trained in foreign policy studies; they both had BAs in history.

(I helped Loren move his library once.)

GDW put out, on average, one new product every 3 weeks from the mid-70s through 1993. Research gets limited to "What things was the author interested in?" and on a 5-6 week development cycle, there's barely time to playtest, let alone look for original language sources in Eastern Europe.

I knew Loren Wiseman and still talk to Frank Chadwick; they were working off of early '80s US war plans. It's not just Anglocentric, it's Americentric. They had _some_ access to German and English sources, but everything they had on Warsaw Pact culture was filtered through NATO.

First, let's back up.

Noem has starred in a sprawling ad campaign she’s said is a crucial tool to stem illegal immigration—so crucial that DHS bypassed the normal competitive bidding process, designed to prevent waste & corruption in federal contracts www.propublica.org/article/kris...
Firm Tied to Kristi Noem Secretly Got Money From $220 Million DHS Ad Contracts
The company is run by the husband of Noem’s chief DHS spokesperson and has personal and business ties to Noem and her aides. DHS invoked the “emergency” at the border to skirt competitive bidding rule...

An underappreciated dynamic: NYPD unions mostly stayed out of the election, and did not endorse Tisch. Though some have called Tisch the NYPD pick, it's not obvious what rank and file or unions want--she was the ruling class pick. This means Zohran's real fight with the NYPD hasn't happened yet.
If We Want Mamdani to Beat the NYPD, the Left Must Build Power
We won’t be able to push Mamdani, or anyone else, to undermine police power unless we become a force to be reckoned with.

They've got almost a century of being the Fascism Branding Consultants. They were _all in_ on Hitler. They only objected to Mussolini because he was a Vulgarian. And probably Catholic.
