for my first U&F I'm pretty happy with my performance. I learned a whole lot on how to properly prep and farm my grids, and I've still got a long way to go for where I want to be, but *man* was it a blast. gave me that XIV savage feeling for the first time in a long time. onwards to January 🫡🎉

Short story break. (Because no way to pose Fiorello's true form 😔)

After Fiorello ferries everyone to Zero's Domain, Valjan finds a chance to speak with the great beast. However, something about Zero gives it an uncharacteristic pause, which Valjan takes note of.
As the others separated to further explore Zero’s Domain, I turned back towards the great beast that ferried us here. Fiorello silently sat on its back haunches, tail rested around itself. Its red-tipped talons idly clawed into the stone beneath it. I suppose it was right when it said its true form was larger than the avatar, which was “bound by my own limitations”. Pft, please. It was just blaming me for being a small avatar. Still, I wondered if it held any sort of ill will towards me. I haven’t exactly been reaping souls like we agreed on, but then again, I haven’t really taken anything from its well of power, and thus there was nothing I needed to pay for. Yet, it wouldn’t hurt to check up on it, I suppose. We are linked, after all, and I’d rather not have it be pissed at me. “So… how’ve you been?” I sauntered up to the beast, ever so collected. Surely, our pact would protect me from getting my head bitten off if it was actually mad. Fiorello slowly turned its eyeless head to me. “Are you attempting to engage me in what your kind have deemed… small talk?” It spoke in droll disinterest. “So far, you’re the only voidsent that will talk to me,” I responded with a slight lift in my shoulders. “They sensed me on you, and rightly felt afraid,” Fiorello grumbled, turning its head away from me. I tilted my head, one leporine ear rolled forward curiously. “So, they thought I was you?” The beast scoffed at my suggestion, tail whipping to the side. “Please. At best, you are seen as pet.” It slowly turned back to me, tone dripping in indignation. “But, if conversation with me is what you desire, then perhaps you should be less occupied with spinning and gyrating, and more concerned with gathering me a feast, as per our arrangement.” I gave it an incredulous look. “Maybe if I was gyrating I would be making more money.” “I care not for such things. The only purpose your little round pieces of metal serve is scraping the last meal from my teeth-...” It stopped suddenly, lifting its head and stretching out its neck forward. I squinted and turned my gaze to face whatever had seemingly captivated the big canid. In the distance, I found Rukay and Zero wandering the domain, speaking to the lesser voidsent. I turned back to Fiorello. “That’s voidsent you fought in Garlemald. Remember?” “I…” it stammered, which I noted was very uncharacteristic of the beast who liked to pretend it had everything figured out. “You got bad blood?” I took a step forward, hands rested on my hips. It sat there silently, still as a statue. “Fiorello,” I said, trying to get its attention again. “Shouldn’t you be pestering your paramour, as is your wont?” Fiorello tilted its large head towards me. “First off,” I held up a finger to the beast. “Stop that. Second, fine. I will.” Fiorello huffed and laid down on its forelegs, curling into a half moon shape. I think that was its cue that it was done talking to me.

Something catches his eye and he picks it up. He grins at the item as it lays in his palm. Valjan: (THESE are cute.) He fastens the items in his ears and uses his dancer weapon as a mirror. The item he picked up was a set of gold earrings shaped like roses. Valjan admires his reflection. In the background, A'rukay looks at him with a risen brow and an ear pressed forward. Noticing he's been caught, Valjan glances back with wide eyes.
