I remember explaining to a few friends that, regardless of what part of the industry, entertainment was gonna get hit hard by Gen Ai.

I was told “NAH! Look at how BAD Gen Ai is right now! It’ll take 10 years or more for it to be used!”

That conversation was 2 years ago & everything is Gen Ai now.

I worked for WB, that was never the case. They were always heavily invested in the IP despite what public opinion and view was. Even more so in that 2019-2020 era, the rebound for the IP was already in motion.

Also she is a billionaire really doesn't need anyone other than herself to push things.

Also if it makes you feel better @ritasnep.bsky.social, I replayed Croc again -specifically- because your post reminded me to do so as one of my 205 in 2025 games.

So you matter to me <3

Both examples shown are games that released within literally the last 2 weeks.

IZ11 was Nov 13th.
CoD: BO7 was Nov 14h.

Well within the exact "return" timeframe that Valve/Steam allow the user.

Try outside that range.

They broke TOS so you should be able to get a refund but you wont get it.
November 27, 2025 at 1:14 AM
You, the user, did nothing wrong.

You, the user, were lied to.

Valve failed to uphold their standard that they have in their TOS.

The Dev/Pub lied and broke the TOS.

Yet YOU have to jump through hoops and will still likely be denied or IF YOURE LUCKY get a refund.

It’s still bullshit.
November 27, 2025 at 1:03 AM
See the part in which it says "It took a lot of work"? See the fact that it took a tremendous effort on the user's part despite the developer/publisher breaking Valve's TOS? See how that's -not- really feasible or easily replicable by users despite the onus being on both Valve and the Pub/Dev?
November 27, 2025 at 1:01 AM
None of anyone I know has been able to replicate this in any capacity. Be it myself, my partner, or any of my friends/colleagues who have tried.

The act of getting that refund is not easily repeatable and very much YMMV situation rather than Valve actually doing anything meaningful about the issue.

COD 7 feels like an exception because of blowback.

Countless people who have attempted to get refunds on other titles that did not disclose or added in Gen Ai later, similar to COD 7, have been unable to get those same refunds.

It’s toothless. If it wasn’t it would be viable at all times.
November 26, 2025 at 11:09 PM
I, and many I know, have been either entirely unable to get OR had incredible difficulty in getting any refunds from anything purchased from developers and publishers who knowingly hid their use of GenAi/had added in GenAi regardless of playtime or purchase time.

Valve isn’t your friend.
November 26, 2025 at 11:07 PM
It’s toothless because by not disclosing it the developer and publisher are violating Valve’s TOS which should enable all people to get a refund regardless of the arbitrary rules of “purchased less than 2 weeks ago and less than 2 hours played” but they do not allow that regardless of the situation.
November 26, 2025 at 11:01 PM
Except there’s countless games on Steam that have used Gen Ai in development and is in their game currently, even as assets on their store page, and they do not disclose it.

Valve does not have the capability nor care enough if they did to check every game on the platform for Gen Ai assets.

"Evil CEO says this other company that doesn't even really check to see if devs use AI in games is harming them by just giving devs the option to disclose if their game has used AI in development or not. Claims everyone is just a hater and stamps his feet while throwing a tantrum in a boardroom."

With how much WBD is doubling and tripling down on the brand right now, this is more of an inevitability than anything else.

New TV series, new audio drama series, the various new games released…

WBD loves HP more than almost any other IP they own and are heavily pushing for a franchise revival.

Time Warner, aka Warner Media, LLC, has owned Turner since the 90’s.

Turner is also just a name now, not actually a company anymore.

All these things are under WBD.
