He even inspired me to paint my own version, many years ago when I wasn't a particularly good painter (altho I liked how the fabric came out!), using semi precious gems, pearls & my own fused glass cabochons

I'm assuming you're aware of the Paul Koudounaris books 'Heavenly Bodies' & 'The Empire of Death' as he's extensively photographed pretty much all the bejewelled saints. They're fab books. laluzdejesus.com/wp-content/u...

Back in 2013 I saw the superlative Ice Age Art exhibition at the British Museum which was stuffed w magnificent things but the thing that actually made me cry was this beautiful carving of a ptarmigan on an antler. So simple, perfect & accurate & 30,000 years old. I was transported (see alt text)

I think I'm right in saying that in Islam, tabby cats are especially revered because many of them have the letter 'M' on their foreheads.
