In Pollendara, an announcer gestures widely for everyone's attention. ANNOUNCER: Ladies and gentlemen, after careful deliberation... Helios stares accusingly towards Liege, who is glancing smugly towards Index, who is averting his eyes, stressed. Vilgorr and Birch look onward. ANNOUNCER: The judges are calling for the disqualification of... The announcer gestures towards Vilgorr decisively, flinching as the Archskull looks outraged, as does Liege. Both villains break formation with the other competitors to step forward and stare down the announcer. ANNOUNCER: ...Archskull Vilgorr. VILGORR: WhAT LIEGE: Ridiculous! On what grounds?! The announcer carefully steps back from both of them, hands up defensively. Liege sneers. ANNOUNCER: He didn't use a bow. LIEGE: These prolonged weapon inspections and drawn-out deliberations...this is a farce. Helios breaks from the line, surprising Index and Birch as he strides out HELIOS: And it's gone on long enough!

Ruby carefully looks back to see that she isn't being followed on her walk to the Cloud Zeppelin out the backway of the castle. Ruby is stopped in her tracks as Clouwn pops up out of the clouds on the way to the Cloud Zeppelin. CLOUWN: Hiya, Princess! RUBY: Ah! CLOUWN: Where ya going? Ruby tries to force a polite smile as she tries to explain herself. RUBY: Oh...I...you know... Clouwn smiles up at Ruby guilelessly. Ruby's posture loses its confidence, as her eye contact falls to the floor. RUBY: Nowhere.

During the archery tournament, Liege looms over Birch, not at all mindful of his imposing body language. Birch flattens somewhat against the wall behind him, looking up at Liege wide-eyed. Liege opens the conversation, "...Birch, was it?" In a small voice, Birch replies, "...yes?" Liege makes a quiet "Hm," and adds in normal conversational volume, "Impressive shot."

Ruby spies at Reeves in the mail room; he is preoccupied sweeping a few envelopes and scrolls into a box and doesn't notice her. Ruby sidles up alongside a balcony exit to look in on Librina, who is leaning on the bannister and staring at the heart-shaped clouds in the sky, dreamily. Ruby sweeps a few items into her Panic Purse off a countertop. Ruby is working her hair back into something a bit more manageable, fixing a hairpin into place. Ruby is now fully dressed in an ensemble that reads as Pilot and Princess Undercover, except she is also carefully placing her crown on top of her head.

the current arc of my comic is about a princess trying to find someone who would be a really impressive date to take with her to someone else's royal wedding, so...it's marriage-adjacent...?
Liege is in a sitting room in casual clothing, teasing a morsel of his food to Harbinger, and carefully holding the rest of it further away, impaled on a long thin dagger. Ominous is combing Liege's hair back into its usual look. OMINOUS: The Princess of Pollendara was eager to request your presence for a courtship event. LIEGE: That seems suspicious. Liege flicks the food to Harbinger, who snaps his jaws on it mid-air, as he looks to Alkamilla. LIEGE: Doesn't she keep in close communication with Dawn? Alkamilla exposits things from a read-out projected by her mechanical arm's gemstone. ALKAMILLA: Other than Argent cracking down on their borders, balancing their east and west trade security and blocking our public communicator channels...hard to say who else KNOWS. We DO know that Princess Hazel wants a brag-worthy date for that Royal Wedding. Liege frowns in thought, as Alkamilla shrugs matter-of-factly. LIEGE: I haven't crashed ANY weddings during my rule. ALKAMILLA: Lotta that's on us. Our marauding threw a wrench in all but the most dedicated communications. Liege looks conflicted, while Ominous leans in and tents his fingers, insistently. LIEGE: Still, to waste my chance by being INVITED... OMINOUS: I was hoping you'd be hexing someone's newborn, by now.

The Kingdom of Vermillion is shown again, mostly in good condition, but we can see some halted repairs. NARRATION: Presently, in the kingdom of Vermillion Victor sleeps deeply in his room, spied on for a moment by a pensive Ruby. In a similar shot, Victor still snores, but Ruby is now gone, her footfalls quickly fading. Victor continues to sleep, in an overhead view, that shows the beacon in the backpack next to his bed with the Twin Heart Gauntlets that transform him into Crimsonheart. The beacon begins to gently glow and make a soft "boop", but Victor rolls away and snores, unaware.
