I bought a drinking bird.

We are studying physics, and I thought it was just be a funny cute thing to have on my desk. It turned into a slew of questions and experimentation to figure out how Filipe actually works. We still have way more questions than answers.

Oh, and yes, we named him Filipe.

First day of 2025 with students is in the books! Even found this little inspiration (gift from a former student) tucked inside a book (thought I had lost it).

For the record, it was, and they were. ☕️ ☺️

Always sweet when students think to bring you something. However, I’m all about the cards.

I’m also all about a good science pun.

Reflecting today as we start diving in to our project about astronomy. Students had lots of great thoughts about what worked well … and what didn’t.

Kicking off our new project about astronomy today with some drawing while listening to Holst’s Jupiter. Check out some of our creations!

Not a bad way to spend a Monday after a break.

Lots to be thankful for this year but greatly enjoying this moment of calm before the storm. Nothing beats a strong coffee and a buttery croissant.

Also incredibly grateful for the community building happening here. Thank you all.

When one of the amazing teaching assistants makes a too-small schedule, you science it up a bit.

Update: a pencil fish has joined their ranks.

Because that’s a thing now …

Some days, my students work really hard at tackling tough science concepts.

Some days, they assemble a small army of mini ducks when I’m not looking.

This year’s sixth grade scientists are definitely a creative bunch!

Probably healthy. Maybe. We’ll see.
