Oxford-based medical librarian, butler to a cat named Abby, amateur actor, folk singer, cross-stitcher. Chronically helpful; annoying people for good. She/her, opinions absolutely my own.
Don't worry! It was tricky timing as it was during COVID so as there was a lot less happening, it probably *wasn't* impacting my life as much as it does now/before COVID.

However, I absolutely understand if autistic people feel that I don't have a right to those terms as I was technically diagnosed not autistic. It is a complicated situation that I haven't fully managed to figure out for myself.

I had an autism assessment a few years ago and the conclusion was "eh, you have autistic traits but it's not impacting your life enough or clear enough in your early childhood to diagnose you". I occasionally use "sub-clinically autistic" but I would consider mildly autistic as an option.

An American friend of mine told me that his mom was turning 70.and when asked how she wanted to celebrate, said she'd like them to take her to Switzerland. I had to explain the connotations - obviously she meant for a holiday! 🤣

That genuinely seems to be it! There's been a weird divergent evolution of computer science "databases" and library/information "databases", I guess because the library ones came from big paper indexes and then CD-ROMS and so on...

I AGREE. I tried the eConsult thinking it was going to just let me book an appointment online, but it instead asked me a load of invasive personal questions and booked me for a blood test!

It's definitely put more on women because sexism! I can't really comment because I've never used dating apps and I'm short enough that I'm very unlikely to date anyone shorter than me.

I guess it just further emphasises the ways in which dating apps are a meat market, and risks fat women never getting any connections through them at all because they're primarily about physical appearance.

It's the absolute worst! I only buy patterns from creators I know and ones that have convincing photos of the finished product nowadays.

This was new information to me, thank you for publicising it! I hadn't seen anything about the variation in spelling even potentially meaning anything before and it's useful to be aware of in the back of one's mind.
