Hesitant to share this (since I don't offer hands-on dev anymore), but I built "minesweeper in space" in about a day and a half last week (Brackeys Game Jam 2025.2). Play it in your browser: kschmidt.itch.io/asteroid-miner

On painting and achieving your dreams

This past weekend my wife debuted her latest painting collection: she painted her dreams. In January she had a profound dream about space, and immediately journaled and sketched what she could recall.

Opening night complete! My role for the last 2 days and the next three is “Exhibitor Assistant”. Yesterday was a whirlwind of meeting the other amazing exhibitors, speaking with media, and even bumping into old friends.

Planning out the week, month and quarter using several notebooks. With all the “virtual” work, it feels good to use paper and pen.

My March Video Challenge is over! I learned a lot, and there are more videos to come. Did one stand out so far?

Co-op students are great team additions. I started my game industry career as a co-op, and have since built co-op programs at multiple companies with great results. Check out my website for articles with best practices and advice for hiring co-op students.

Lately I've wanted to start using video to share my knowledge, and promote myself. But I'm finding it really hard! So this month I'm recording a video a day. I'm kicking off with this one.

Game technology is growing in other industries. Check out this list from Epic Games. They recently announced a partnership with Qualcomm to bring UE5 to car HMIs (Rivian also has UE in theirs).

DICE just finished. If you know someone at WB Games, I want to help get The Matrix: The Path of Neo remastered. There are zero Matrix games on Steam and Switch. I love the IP. I may not be the best poet nor know kung fu, but I have the skills and network to get this game on new platforms.

Since visiting New York City, I have started looking up more often.

The sky scrapers there are immense. The views from them are awe-inspiring.

Wherever you are, look up to see things from a new perspective.
