It doesn't really make a case for LAAO, does it?

Absolutely!

Here‘s a paper that describes this phenomenon but the picture below says it all.

This is a patient post-open heart surgery and after opening the pericardium, the RV will never be the same. TAPSE usually crashes and sometimes you see even more changes to the heart‘s geometry.

Ok it does like like mid-wall akinesis commonly referred to as McConnell-sign but in fact all RV-free wall segments are moving - only somewhat dyssynchronous.
What’s more appalling is that the RV has lost its pyramid-form and turned into a sphere.

Maybe plaque rupture is just chance and no matter how hard we try to calculate risk factors, measure inflammation or use imaging to identify vulnerable plaque we'll never be able to predict.

It must be true that diet plays a big role in longevity and health in general but Pollan‘s advice covers most aspects: Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.

In my dept we’ve long stopped BB for every MI. I think it was Chinese trial that downgraded the ESC recommendation > 10y ago. The hype about these new trials stems from the fact that BBs are a quality indicator in the US. Nonetheless it’s great we have a clear picture now: MI+EF<50% it is!

🎯Die Studie ist genauso schlecht wie die ganzen Kafeekonsumstudien - genaus aus dem Grund! - weird dann aber in der Laienpresse gehyped.

I just spent 15 minutes trying to find some critical appraisal on this trial which nobody seems talk about except the usual Vitamin-D- fans and goes against every RCT done on VitD before…

The question is whether the politician is basing his demand on scientific data alone or whether this is a grand strategy to win voters on the right and among conspiracy theorists. This study is surely not the only publication on the matter. You will also find reports that put the risk in context.

Interesting. Aortic stiffness as a surrogate for downstream vascular disease…?

Is this based on scientific data alone or a question of political strategy?

The gif is 🎯 - it’s quite obvious that if you change a daily routine (especially removing a performance-enhancing drug like caffeine) may increase stress-levels. Anybody claiming ☕️ stops afib didn’t quite get the trial.
