I love how solid #FightingEXLayer feels. I've never gotten deep into 6-button fighting games, so I'm having to adjust a lot. I'm torn between easier execution = less damage versus harder execution = more damage.

I revisited Festival Mall Alabang which has an indoor amusement park. It used to have many arcade candy cabinets, but these are all that remain. This is where I used to play Psikyo shmups back in the 2000s.

In the Sailor Moon beat 'em up game for the Mega Drive, if you do Sailor Mars' anti-crowd move (C button), you can spam the pause button and get an upskirt shot. My early puberty teenager brain thought of that.😂

One afternoon of playing made such a difference to me. I did my first 1CC of normal mode without the boring projectile cheese that I used to do as a kid. The infinite jab gets boring too, but at least it helped me clear the game faster by 15 minutes.

Back then as a kid, my NES clone's controllers had turbo buttons. So it was "normal" for me to also enable turbo when playing NES Contra on emulators.
But for the sake of having a valid run, I decided to do my first 1CC without turbo fire.

With the availability of arcade games via modern ports and emulation along with tools to help a player practice, dismissing arcade games for having "cheap" and "unfair" design now speaks more about a person's taste and/or refusal to stand up to the challenge than a game's design.

I bought #FightingEXLayer. I haven't played any 6-button fighting games extensively, so it's gonna be a big challenge getting used to it.

I just finished the main story of Rise of the Tomb Raider and got 100% completion. I wish there was a Tomb Raider reboot game wit dinosaurs in it.

I'm not really into the parry-centric gameplay that you see in Sekiro or Lies of P, but if I will play such a game, then it's going to be Dinoblade.

I did a 3-credit clear of Maiden Cops on the easiest difficulty just for the story and unlocking all of the stages. Really enjoyed it a lot. Judging by the overall game design, you can tell that the devs really love classic beat 'em ups.

Today I did my second clear of Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly. The first time I cleared it was over 15 years ago.

Today I did my second clear of Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly. The first time I cleared it was over 15 years ago.
Since it's spooky month and there's a second remake in the works, I've decided to replay Fatal Frame 2, one of the three survival horror games I cleared in the late '90s to mid-2000s alongside Dino Crisis and Kuon.

I cleared Dino Crisis' Operation Wipe Out for the first time. I remember being a teenager playing this many, many years ago, and I ran out of time in front of the final exit because Regina was badly injured and limping.

It's been over two years since I had any new significant shmup 1CCs. I'm too lazy to practice that every time a nice new shmup comes out I just tell myself that I'd rather do high scoring in Darius Gaiden, which I don't end up doing.😆

Now that I finally own an official copy of Doom, I revisited the Dino Crisis 2 weapons mod and "Carnivore Disaster" dinosaur enemy mod. It was tough trying to get out of the starting room in E1M3 on hard mode. Luckily I was able to purchase the dual SMGs after getting some kills.
