The turkey coma is truly a harsh mistress.

While I'll readily admit I'm usually pretty indifferent about movies being turned into musicals (and vice versa), that movie was one of my favorites as a kid - and goddamn if I'm not quite a bit delighted by this one.

I've never seen the anime (I was an egg at the time), but it honestly makes sense because the film is familiar to most. And to be fair, the material from much of the later Oz books got weird in a less whimsical, more "Frank, why are you still doing this?" kind of way.

Also, main piece of fictional media I've seen that had Ozma/Tip in any amounts (and a lot more Ozma than Tip), is a webcomic called Namesake. Definitely an interesting take on her. No idea if that would be your speed.

Seriously! We get a small fraction of Ozma in Return to Oz - but nothing of actual substance. It's definitely one of the reasons I wish that a movie based on the Wicked books had been done, but the books are definitely too weird (among other things in this climate) to get a film adaptation, I think.
