Definitely a top 5 Kubrick for me. I'm glad this remaster is getting a lot of hype and is reportedly selling well, regardless if I feel the transfer wasn't the definitive version.

The movie itself was met with mixed reactions when it came out, but over time has been reappraised to be seen as one of Kubrick's finest. And rightfully so. It's an excellent, beautiful and unnerving film. Some of the themes in it also feel especially relevant today with how the rich behave.

I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so hard. I'm sure you gave her the best life she could've asked for, and you'll have many wonderful memories to cherish.

One last thing:

Zootopia 2 improves on the first by the number of giraffes in it. The original had a few in a couple scenes, but Zootopia 2 is chock full of them.

SO MANY GIRAFFES

BUT at least the quality is super high, so they didn’t rush it just to make a quick buck.

Definitely go see this. It’s a riot, and a terrific sequel to the first. I’m very excited for part 3… hopefully not ten years from now lol

I was surprised it took them this long to make a Zootopia sequel. It’s an IP that is full of potential. There hasn’t even been a TV series (just a short film anthology), which could further explore the city and its culture(s). Considering how successful it is, it’s odd they waited so long.

I don’t think Gary’s a very deep character, and the beaver (I forgot her name) is a little too ‘I’m here to point out things to move the plot along’ in a convenient way, but they’re small quibbles.

There is also SO MUCH going on in this movie. Every scene is chock full of characters and details.

I thought the character arcs were great for Nick and Judy. A nice evolution of their characters. I was also wondering ‘how are they going to handle them being cops?’ But they did it in a clever way that I won’t spoil.

I was worried I’d find the snake Gary to be annoying but he’s a nice addition.

This was a hilarious movie too. So many creative plays off of animal traits, blink-and-you-miss-it pop culture references, and one Kubrick reference that absolutely floored me. I couldn’t believe they did that lmao

But in all seriousness, Zootopia 2 was excellent. Maybe better than the first? I think they’re both great in their own ways, like Bad Guys 1 & 2 (dang, this has been a great year for animated furry movie sequels huh?)
