Go to your local bike shop and ask about local trails and proper bikes/gear you'll need to ride them. Rent/borrow a bike if you have that option. You only need hydration, a helmet and a bike to start. Flat pedals allow you to use regular shoes, saving some cost initially.

You'll never match the green so go with what you like color wise. Also, be ready for your buddies to argue it's yellow. They will. It is what we do.

I was at Snowshoe a few years back when they did a double header. It was the same course but that was literally four races between Wednesday and Sunday. Maybe more time to change the course in this format.

Wild when my high school anthems post about bikes and it pops up in my bike feed.

I noticed you didn't stop at the stop sign either. I ride bikes as well and see cars do a lot of crazy things. I'm not sure I'd post a complaint about how someone was driving as I rolled through a stop sign myself.

I love my Salsa Cutthroat. Slightly more expensive, slightly lighter and by far the best bike for trails imo. Lots of contact points for commuter bags or bikepacking. Probably not as efficient on the road but I avoid pavement.

It's all still there. It just got sucked up into the spokes behind the stay.
