This is actually what I like about LC. It's hashtag taking liberalism seriously, as a thick political position with attendant commitments, not as a representation of the materially vacuous stance of a mediator.

Donald Trump is crumbling before us.

Pete Hegseth is under fire for war crimes, with congressional inquiries looming.

Kash Patel is getting publicly humiliated by his own FBI agents.

RFK Jr.'s freak flag is getting national attention thanks to the Lizza-Nuzzi insanity.

The wheels are coming off.

I have come to the idea that we have to collectively, brutally, ritualistically kill Target just to show capital that we truly aren’t fucking around.

we are well past the point at which anyone who cannot identify bad faith like this is disqualified from commenting on it

the girl and her mother are basically screaming THIS IS A BAD FAITH ATTACK ON TRANS PEOPLE at the top of their lungs and if you can't see that you're stupid or lying
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

The problem is that the gen z cons in particular are so odious that they're triggering massive backlash in their own cohort. Gen Z women are like the most liberal group in the country because the 50% of gen Z men who are cons are literal groyper, repeal the 19th amendment types
The plan is to make new ones

This would be funny(er) if there wasn't a real chance this does another 2008 to us all. I'm so mad at how deeply regular businesses have allowed complete shell games like crypto and LLM's penetrate. Good chance we all suffer when the charlatans have their bills come due.
The dividends that $MSTR owes total “over $640 million annually .. Bitcoin generates no cashflow. Nor does Strategy’s aging software business. ..

“.. A tragic spiral now seems possible.”

They are doing extreme levels of damage, but god as my witness this is not how you create a lasting regime and they aren't consolidating anything but losses.

We will have the work of multiple lifetimes to mend what they have torn (assuming we can) but they are losing and they know it.

News --> The commander who oversaw Pete Hegseth's alleged killing of two boat bombing survivors is now likely to come in and face questions from the House Armed Services Committee, ranking Dem Adam Smith tells me.

In this piece, I try to make sense of this horror:

Trump Boat Bombings Suddenly on Shakier Ground as Damning Info Emerges
Will Republicans give us a real investigation into Trump’s bombings, now that we just learned horrific new details about them? Or are they seriously going to fall on their swords for Pete Hegseth?

This last year has been all about me adjusting to the reality that my life is now very much not about me anymore.

I am not living to fulfill my own goals, or to advance my own agenda.

I am losing weight and staying in my job because I have a family that needs me around.

It's been weird.

i’m genuinely so convinced all of this has been a planned operation by the student and her mother (who is commenting on this publicly, and associated closely with the republican party), and big far right propaganda account going all in on it. this is designed to oust trans people from public life

I kid you not when I tell you that firing at the shipwrecked is quite literally provided as an example of an illegal order.

thinking more about this: it is highly ironic that at the same time that it serves as a test case for the "unitary executive," this administration is all but being led by two subordinate officials with no immediate political accountability.

like running an independent is fine in a short term sense to make more senate seats competitive but kinda undermines long to goals of just electing more democrats (particularly if said independents reinforce negative preconceptions about democrats)
i think fundamentally the issue with the "just run an independent lol" which is a fine tactical play but horribly strategy because you cannot escape the democratic brand as someone who is not a republican in a polarized environment
this is a perfectly good theory which presents the problem that it has not happened once in american history

this is basically my primary objection to “run independent populists in red states”. they are going to behave like independent populists in red states. angus king is basically your best-case scenario.
indie senators are also going to be *significantly* less likely (as in — not at all likely) to go big on reforms to the court or abolishing the filibuster, and without doing either, most of what you can is defense, not offense

Dinners with rich donors and billionaires
