Photos of a heart mountain fault hand sample I grabbed from the main rock cabinet. The actual fault is the brown part with gray bits basically reworked from above and below.

What the Water Rat said to the Mole: “Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing–absolutely nothing–half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”

Went kayaking today but highlight was bumping into this cottonwood borer the size of my thumb. Rather flashy species of longhorn beetle.

Lots of messed up stuff happening, but at least this junk mail made my data scientist heart laugh. Inside was a letter about “marketing real estate differently”.

Anyone know why #ercot wholesale electricity prices in Texas are going through the roof? Besides it’s kinda hot for first time in a while, of course.

Went to a city park in Houston to run and spotted a very large silicified tree fossil placed between two trees on edge of a parking lot like a decorative stone, except there were no other big rocks like it between other trees.

Was faced with two possibilities listed below.

Saw this post and then checked the wholesale price for electricity in Texas: $0. Main source of power today is a lot of solar.

Many of the deleted NASA policy documents removed from public-facing NODIS (NASA Online Directive Information System) during early weeks of Trump administration have to do with discrimination. Good use of @archive.org to analyze 100s of PDF over time. lemon-plant-066c01310.6.azurestaticapps.net

March has seen many days with negative whole electricity prices in midday hours in Texas and it just seems crazy to me, in a good way. Also, I am switching to doing laundry at lunchtime instead of evening, because my battery is full so you’all getting my solar panel power for free.

Saw swarm of dozens of blue lighted small drones fly over 26th street and Princeton going south towards downtown #Houston fast . Too early to be part of official fireworks. Weird.

Wind speed map.
Lying in bed in Houston feeling the house shake from hurricane gusts not too different than feeling it shake from frequent earthquake aftershocks in Taipei.

I’ve enjoyed making fun or nerdy business cards. Original had topographic map on textured paper. Then moved to augmented reality business cards, works on any browser. Can change 3D model every few years so it updates even if physical card is same. github.com/JustinGOSSES...

Anyone know what this #fossil is? Found in Ohio Shale (Devonian age) in Big Creek Reservation Park. Looks a bit like an upside down jellyfish trace but oval. Imprint with texture. Reed fossils and pyrite / siderite nodules also found in slightly lower strata.

Interesting to watch the ads on Twitter drop in quality w more scams, but also cheap enough to do hyper targeted ads like “buy a satellite dish for your house to do radio astronomy”, which makes me want to start a new parody“mad scientist” account to see what ads I get
