Anyway like yes tech companies are liars and we shouldn’t trust what they say — it’s even more interesting for the bear case on that company if they’re actually spending more like two to five bucks on inference per weekly users

Ed zitrons reporting is now they spend a little over a billion a month on inference. I’m not sure it’s crazy to translate that back into weekly users at a budget of a dollar to a dollar and a half on inference each

I am just torn on this by like. Look at how much chud world fucking loves their slop. Look at how much social media traffic is driven by slop including created by global teams paid to do it. Yes you could maybe get to huge numbers that way

Another way to get to these numbers is to look at like. Search engines have ai results by default now. What if they’re counting all the times you use Bing and that’s powered by OpenAI under the hold

Is it plausible that people check out ChatGPT roughly as often as they’ll traipse onto a Wikipedia page ? I guess I think that’s not completely crazy
