Just re-reading your post, and realizing you asked for quick reads.. Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald is a longer read, but quick if the story gets you! (It's a weekend read for me 🤪) The Birth House by Ami McKay is much shorter!

Two that I go back to again and again are Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald, and The Birth House by Ami McKay! They're both set in historical Nova Scotia (where I'm from!) and feature strong feminine leads! If you're an emotional person, like moi, prepare for agony... My mom also loves them!

I did see that SK made changes around animal testing fairly recently, which is awesome! I think my confusion is because they still sell in areas that require animal testing, so they show up on lists of non-cruelty-free brands? But I'm new to this and excited to learn more! More options are better!

I spend most of my time online on YouTube and I feel like I've built some trust with consistent recommendations from a combination of derms and skincare enthusiasts! I don't spend a lot of time watching short-form content, but a lot of it seems ad-like.. I'm brand new to skincare so it can be tricky

Another great reason to avoid this group of brands! They also aren't cruelty-free, which seems ridiculous in 2025..

Oh wow! I'm in Nova Scotia, and it's the coldest day of the year so far 😳 and I'm a giant bebe when it comes to the cold 😂 I love heat and humidity!

Good weather makes even a so-so day more enjoyable 🥳 it's currently -20°C here and our house is 200 years old, so I'm dreaming of nice market weather 😂☺️

I love how easy @bsky.app makes it to add the alt text! I'm just working on my wording now.. as a person with vision, it's hard to know what and how much to describe to make the text as helpful as possible!
