If you sojourn in Canada for less than 183 days in a year, you pay Canadian income tax only on income earned in Canada. If you have no income earned in Canada, you pay no Canadian income tax, regardless of your citizenship.

As an accountant, I can answer you. Canadian income tax is based on residency, not citizenship. If you "sojourn" (live) in Canada for more than 183 days in a year, you pay Canadian income tax on your worldwide income. Tax credits will often be given for taxes paid in other countries, though.

I think that’s what happens when you become singularly great at one thing and one thing only, at the expense of everything else.

I remember reading a Time magazine article about him during the years he was playing in Edmonton, and the author strongly implied in the article that Gretzky was not the smartest person, even by pro athlete standards. He's given us no reason to think otherwise.

It's only disappointing if he'd ever given us any reason to assume anything better.

This is a fantastic story! It made me emotional, having dealt with parents with dementia. And yes, so very, very Manitoban. Well done!

Marginal utility is the key economic concept that I wish more people understood.

If you give, say, someone with $1tn of net assets £1000 it will have less positive impact on him than if you give someone like me with let’s say £30,000 of net assets

I did that last night and got some amazing photos.

Tonight? Nothing.
